One musician, one listener, the space and the music

Individual concerts

For another year, DeltaChamber Music Festival’s individual concerts will captivate us with their distinctive characters!

Following the success of previous editions, we are repeating this format this year with more than twenty individual concerts held in 2 towns in Terres de l’Ebre.

Intimate, personal concerts, where one listener and one musician are in musical closeness, in a space of proximity and complicity. A special and unique concert that arises from the meeting of their gazes.

How they work

The host will welcome you to the concert venue and will explain how it works. The concerts are at 15-minute intervals. Each one lasts 10 minutes, with a short break to prepare the space for the next listener.

One essential element of the individual concerts is that, as a listener you can only communicate with the musician through visual contact: you cannot speak to each other.

When you buy your ticket, you only choose the date and time of the concert. What instrument, musician or repertoire will you see? Let yourself be captivated by the virtuosity of the festival’s artists!

Please arrive 15 minutes before your concert time so that you can find out about how the concert will work and avoid delays.

The idea

The individual concerts are inspired by Marina Abramović’s performance, The Artist Is Present. The concept is based on a format of 1:1 concerts, developed by Volkenroda Summer Concerts, which our co-founder and artistic coordinator Laura Ruiz Ferreres was part of in 2019.

This innovative format and concept first came to Spain at DeltaChamber Music Festival in the 2020 edition, ‘Parenthesis’.
